EDGE PROJECT Youth worker Part-time

We are seeking to appoint a Youth Worker to our EDGE PROJECT at the ARC Healthy Living Centre based at Irvinestown, Co Fermanagh. This is an important project providing activities to support and nurture our young people.

The role of the Youth worker is to assist with the design and delivery of a structured programme of health promoting diversionary youth activities for children and young people living in and around the Irvinestown area. The Youth Worker will supervise activities from Monday to Friday, including some evening and weekends if required. Please see our website for more details on the EDGE Project itself.

This position is part time , 16 hours per week. The appointment is for a Fixed term until 31st March 2022 with possible extension dependent on funding.

The current rate of pay is set at the National Living Wage- currently £8.91 per hour. The ARC have a work based pension scheme for eligible staff.

Applicants must have at least 1 years relevant experience in a paid or voluntary capacity. A youth work qualitification is desirable but not essential.

Applicants must demonstrate in their application how they meet the competencies in the personnel specification as follows:

  • Ability to provide age appropriate activities for children and young people using the facility
  • Ability to implement appropriate behaviour management where necessary
  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection legislation and issues
  •  Time management skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Appropriate health and safety knowledge
  • Ability to manage stress and resolve difficulties
